Sweet Making

Yesterday saw what was probably a first for Pontyclun primary school: the whole of years 3 and 4 taking part in a mass cooking session! All children managed to take part in making their sweet treats and they all looked delicious! We made chocolate marshmallows, peppermint bark, peppermint creams, choclate cherries and coconut haystacks. The children thoroughly enjoyed the morning and the teachers hope we gave them a little taste of what it would be like to work in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory!

A big thank you to all the parents for making such an enjoyable morning possible with your wonderful support! Here's some photos of how we got on:

Chocolate Factory

On Monday we visited the choclate factory in Swansea. We were shown around the factory floor, shown where and how they make some of the chocolates and the machinery they use. The children got to put on aprons and hair nets which was was enjoyed by all! There was no shortage of samples to enjoy either!!! The children were also given a talk on where chocolate comes from, starting as a cocoa plant and the journey it makes before we get to eat it! We had the chance to look at cocoa plants and beans close up, as well as a little more sampling! They really enjoyed learning about this and some of the surprises the talk offered! The children finished off by visiting the sweet shop, which was full of sweet treats, some of which were made in the factory.

Unfortunately, we were unable to take photos inside the factory but did get some of the children during the day:

Christmas Party

Our Christmas party was a great success this year. The children had fun playing party games such as musical statues and musical bumps, it ended with a picnic in the classrooms.
