We visited Cilfynydd Environmental Centre where the children were taught about the environment.
They now know many interesting facts about trees - how important they are to us and animals alike.
Gathering under the willow arch.
Willow trees are bent to form this arch. We were given a piece of willow to plant in a clear plastic bottle in order to watch it's roots grow.
Not a PE lesson, but a way of measuring the spread of roots of a tree - stand with your back to the tree, bend over with your leg straight and your head touching the floor. If you can't see the top of the tree, move further away. When you can see the top of the tree, you are at the furthest point that the roots will reach.
Looking for the labels that show the leaves and their names.
Those labels took some hunting, but the children didn't give up until they had all been found.
